ENERGY: A.T.Biopower Co., a biomass small power producer in Phichit, has begun electricity deliveries to Egat Plc.
M.L.Chanaphun Kridakorn, Chairman and Chief Executive, said the plant had a capacity to generate 22 megawatts of electricity using husks.
"The contract with Egat allows us to sell 20 MW of electricity to the company for 25 years and 150,000 tonnes of husk are used every year," he said.
A.T.Biopower spent 500 million baht to build the plant with support from TMB Bank and Siam City Bank of 900 million baht. The project cost 1.4 billion baht in total and is a joint venture amony Chubu Electric Power Co of Japan, Al Tayyar Energy from the United Arab Emirates, Private Energy Market Fund LP, the Finnish Fund for Industrial Co-operation, Rolls-Royce Power Ventures, and Flagship Asia Corp of Thailand.
"This is also the first biomass power plant in Thailand utilising suspension firing system, a US technology that emits lower carbon dioxide and sulphur," he said.
