Final approvals from the central and provincial governments, local authorities and communities have been granted to ATB Pichit project, after feasibility study and project development that have begun since early 2000. In the past three years, ATB has been seeking support and validation from the Office of Environmental Policy and Planning (OEPP), as well as meeting with local residents and authorities to let them know of our working plan and soliciting their advice and opinions relating to technical, social impact and environmental issues. Their concerns were taken into account and adjustments were made to the project blueprint in order to reassure the communities that the project is well equipped with measures for environmental impact mitigation and monitoring. Rounds of talks and meetings were organized regularly to address these issues surrounding ATB plant construction. Now, not only the OEPP approval of our Pichit’s EIA, but ATB has also been granted subsidy from the Energy Policy and Planning Office (EPPO).
